OUR CHAPTER
George Walton Chapter’s
History files hold a certificate dated November 7, 1900 from the National Society Daughters
of the American Revolution, empowering Mrs. Anne Elizabeth Forman Dismukes as Chapter Regent of a Columbus Chapter. Mrs. Dismukes
held an organizational meeting in her home on February 22, 1901, George
Washington’s birthday, with 16 members present. She wrote a letter July 30, 1901 to
the National Society giving the name of the chapter as The George Walton
Chapter, and requested that the organizational date be recorded as July 4, 1901.
On July 4, 200l, George Walton
Chapter, NSDAR, celebrated its 100th Anniversary. As of January
2008 George Walton Chapter has a membership of 91.
